Putting on Christ Series 12/1/11 again

12/1/11
31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Matthew 5:31-32

King James Version (KJV)

Marriage is a covenant; it's a unity of a man & a woman. The Holman Bible Dictionary defines marriage as "the sacred, covenantal union of one man & one woman formed when the two swear before God an oath of life long loyalty & love to one another, the sign & seal of which is sexual intercourse." Marriage is the ideal relationship between one man and one woman. It began with Adam & Eve. The only exception for divorce is adultery. If adultery occurs, one is allowed to divorce their spouse. Matthew 19:16 > What God puts together in marriage must be respected. People need not try to ruin this. In marriage, people are no longer two, but one. 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 further illustrates the importance of not leaving a spouse. If the woman leaves, she needs to remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. He does not need to put her away. Marriage is an important union that should not see any separation. We have to respect this. Putting on Christ & walking in the Spirit requires that we respect marriage & God's design of it.
