Putting on Christ Series 12/13/11

12/13/11
14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 6:14-15

King James Version (KJV)

Trespass is a sin. Merriam-Webster online describes it as "a violation of moral or social ethics." Forgiveness is defined as "pardon for a fault or offense; to excuse from payment for a debt owed" (Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary). I'll be candid here. I've messed up multiple times in my life-too numerous to count. Saturday, I got argumentative with my mother as she proclaimed I was pushing religion on my niece & her boyfriend. I ended up calling her a butthead. She hasn't spoken kindly to me since. Rather, she has avoided me. I repented to God & told her I was sorry. She didn't accept it & showed me with her fingers out of her room. I feel bad about it. Mark 11:25, Ephesians 4:32, & Colossians 3:13 emphasize forgiveness. We have to forgive others. We can't hold things against others & expect God to forgive us. That would make God a hypocrite if He did, which He is not. It would make us a hypocrite as well. Jesus' death paid for our sins. We can get forgiveness because Him. A Christian believes in & follows Jesus & His teaching. When we have put Him on & walk in the Spirit, offenses raging from minor to huge need to be forgiven, which we do with Christ & in Spirit.  I'm grateful because of the forgiveness offered up by Jesus' sacrifice.

*FYI: The argument with my mother & her reaction towards me afterwards, has   bee resolved after a week...Praise God*
